PAWCRED exists to give dog owners, shelters and referral partners a reliable way to identify trainers who have demonstrated real competency — not just completed a weekend seminar. Our exams are built and reviewed by working behavior professionals and updated as the science of humane training evolves.
PAWCRED is governed by a volunteer board made up of certified trainers, veterinary behaviorists and shelter operations leads. Board members serve staggered terms and are responsible for exam content review, appeals oversight and continuing education standards.
PAWCRED was founded by a group of independent trainers frustrated with the lack of a consistent, science-based credential in the industry. What began as a single regional exam has grown into a recognized certification used by referral networks and veterinary clinics.
